Sports + Recreation

Sports + Recreation

we really do think it’s all fun and games

At S2 we understand that recreation facilities, in addition to being an amenity for sport and physical exercise, must provide opportunities for social interaction and cultural and community celebrations. They must accommodate the everyday and the special events in order to create healthy, engaged and dynamic communities. Even at the highest levels of athletic performance, recreational facilities must be inclusive, creating a meaningful experience for both the participant and spectator.

Experience has taught us that the key to designing and programming recreational facilities is to develop strategies that minimize barriers to participation - whether for the beginner or the elite athlete. A carefully designed and programmed facility can be inclusive of all participants at all skill levels. Introductory participants, whether five or 75 years of age, can be accommodated in regulation sized venues which in turn provide competition capable facilities that allow the elite level performers to remain in their community.

At S2 we are adept at and sensitive to designing for inclusion and contributing to the community in a meaningful and positive way. When conceived, designed and executed properly, recreation facilities are intensely used by differing groups over the course of a day. They require a robustness of construction which addresses heavy use patterns while still being capable of capturing the imagination. Through diligence and attention to detail, S2 has cultivated a refined expertise in the design and construction of leisure, sports and recreational facilities. We create inspirational designs and programmes while taking a pragmatic approach to its execution.
