Today, we learn about Gillian Piché, Architect, who recently joined our Vancouver studio.
What is your role with S2, how long have you been with the firm, and what is your favourite part of your job?
I am a new Architect with S2. So far, my favourite part about my job is meeting the S2 staff and getting acquainted with the fantastic project work.
What have you learned about design/architecture from working at S2?
I’ve had my first taste of modular housing and the challenges that come along with it. I love exposure to new project types.
How did you come to work at S2?
I came to work at S2 through a conscious search for quality leadership and varied project work. Throughout my career I have challenged myself to try different project types and develop my expertise as an Architect. This has led me to have valuable experiences working with great firms and clients in Vancouver.
What work are you most proud of thus far in your career?
I have contributed to some great projects in the past; Landmark on Robson (Robson Street, Vancouver) and Renfrew Residences (Renfrew Street, Vancouver) are two of my favourites.
What or who inspires your work?
The ability to affect user experience in any space, large or small. I’m constantly on the hunt for literature and experiential art that feeds this.
My favourite restaurant in Vancouver is:
Tutto, an Italian restaurant on the corner of Homer and Smithe.
What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy coffee chats with friends, looking after my two dogs Sophie and Savio, and helping friends and family where I can.
What do you like best about working at S2?
The promise of a healthy work/life balance, the opportunity to develop my skills and the allowance for research in project work to better enhance design.
