What does it mean to “walk together” with your S2 team?

With S2, walking through the concept to completion is a team effort. We collectively work together to resolve issues that may arise onsite and provide the most efficient and effective method for resolution.

Share a story of how a meaningful relationship—be it with a colleague, community, or a place—has shaped your success and well-being in your career.

Construction administration revolves around building relationships with colleagues to achieve positive outcomes. I moved from Southern Ontario to Red Deer, Alberta, in 2001 to work for John Murray at John Murray Architectural Associates. My role in the firm involved providing technical services in the drafting department and overseeing site administration for various projects, from post-design through to readiness for construction. John was instrumental in introducing me to the world of construction administration, which has significantly contributed to my career success.

A notable moment during my time at JMAA occurred when John was away. I was asked to help solve an issue on a project outside of my assigned responsibilities and prior experience. I took a call from the general contractor and successfully resolved the issue. The following day, John approached me and said, “It seems you have a real talent for problem-solving, even when you lack experience on the project.” This statement helped guide me toward pursuing a career in Contract Administration.

How do you contribute to a collaborative environment?

Through the transition of ideas and solutions developed both within the office and onsite during construction, cultivating results that meet the design intent and foster learning for both myself and our teams
