The Calgary Catholic School District enlisted S2 to oversee the design and construction of a new high school within the vibrant southeast community of Legacy. The project required a site-specific approach to seamlessly integrate the school into its surroundings. S2 assumed the role of prime consultant, overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from the initial design stages to completion. This involved predesign, schematic design, design development, construction documents, tender, construction contract administration, and post-construction stages, in addition to coordinating sub-consultants. The facility includes classrooms, administrative areas, a chapel, and various recreational amenities such as a gymnasium, fitness center, outdoor play fields, and a running track.
Upon entering All Saints High School, you immediately get the feeling that you’ve stepped into the heart of the community. Spirit, Mind, and Body are all unified, symbolized by the suspended chapel, library, and gymnasium. This central location also establishes a visual link to all three wings of the school, fostering a sense of unity and safety.
This LEED Gold-certified institution was designed to bring together 1,500 students, teachers, and staff, with the main corridor serving as a hub for amenities, teaching programs, and special events. The school’s design underwent a rigorous process, exploring numerous configurations to arrive at cutting-edge solutions that cater to a diverse student body. The incorporation of the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment ensures high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
The structure’s design prioritizes sustainability, aiming to create a long-lasting and resilient building. Mindful material selection, a harmonious colour palette, and the strategic use of natural light in all areas work together to create an inviting and welcoming environment for students and staff.
