Cambridge Manor is a unique facility that integrates living, learning, and health services to enhance quality of life for seniors. The design allows for maximum flexibility and resident choice through its services and continuity of care to ensure the ability to age in place. Amenities support residents and encourage integration of residents with the greater community.
Focused on the highest standard of care for residents, Cambridge Manor is situated in Calgary’s new University District neighbourhood. The four-storey senior’s care campus includes 240 units providing residences for independent living, long term care, and memory care living.
A centre for research on aging, tied into the University of Calgary Research on Aging Program, will use a wing of the facility as a living lab for research to provide multidisciplinary opportunities for researchers and students. This research will look at enhancing dementia care, optimizing technology, design and service systems, transitions in care for older adults, social engagement, and falls research.
The campus is connected to Maple Independent Living, a 95-unit independent living facility, via a plus-30 pedway. This connection allows residents of both buildings to connect and share amenities.
S2 facilitated extensive functional programming and site master planning exercises to understand needs of residents and staff, spatial relationships, density and massing.
