LaCaille Group has announced it will build another high rise residential tower in the west end of downtown that will be reminiscent of a time when culture and entertainment were at their best and creative minds inspired creative venues.
Vogue is an elegant 34-storey residential tower designed in the Chicago/ New York art deco style by S2 Architecture, fronting onto 6th Avenue on land just to the west of 8th Street S.W. and one block from an LRT station.
S2 partner-in-charge David Symons says 250 parking stalls will be available, enclosed in four levels of underground and further two and a half floors above a retail podium, which are hidden from street view by the stone-and glass-faced facade.
About 2,300 square feet of retail space will be available for lease on either side of an impressive arch that soars to the eighth-storey level, encased in polished black granite.
Level six includes a large fitness Centre and condo offices for sale, which are also throughout the entire seventh and eighth floors.
Residential floors climb to a height of 365 feet, topped by spires that will be lit up at night. The first 16 have 10 units, seven floors will have six, and two sub-penthouse levels will offer four larger units of over 1,000 square feet of luxurious living with spectacular views.
A sales office will open later this month in Five West, one of LaCaille’s notable residential developments in the city’s west end, which also includes Chateau LaCaille, LaCaille Park Place and Solaire. Mantaray Creative has launched a promotional and marketing campaign for Vogue aimed at young professionals.
One high-profile publicity event is using a team of photographers to snap shots of well-dressed, stylish people in downtown streets to be posted on Face book.
And three snazzy red Fiats, supplied through Eastside Dodge, are being driven around the core and on view at several events involving large-scale audiences. At the end of the six – month promotion, the cars will be given away to lucky buyers of suites.
Gerry Higgins, chair of the Social Enterprise World Forum and founding director of Social Enterprise Coalition (UK), is stopping in Calgary today on his way to this year’s forum in Rio de Janeiro.
Last year, Calgary’s Enterprise Spirit conference was such a huge success, drawing 300 of our social entrepreneurs together, that Trico Charitable Foundation set its sights a little higher and bid for the international event.
It was successful and the foundation will host the world forum here in October 2013 at the Telus Convention Centre.
Since 2006, Higgins has been CEO at Community Enterprise in Scotland, which has grown under his leadership to become a diverse company now employing 66 people and an annual turnover of four million euros.
Higgins will spend two days here meeting with Trico Foundation chairman Wayne Chiu and general manager Michele Fugiel Gartner to learn about Calgary, discuss the Calgary conference and its impact internationally. Recent forums in Johannesburg, San Francisco and Melbourne have attracted more than 700 delegates – the effect on Calgary could be quite significant. Beakerhead is a five-day festival that brings together the arts and engineering sectors to build, engage, compete and exhibit interactive works of art, spectacle and entertainment. A business case for the collaboration among Calgary arts organizations is the result of a business case commissioned by the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary in 2009.
Beakerhead co-founders Mary Anne Moser of the university and Jay Ingram, former co-host of Daily Planet on Discovery Channel, continued to meet with potential collaborators and have set Sept. 11-15, 2013 as the first annual event to take place at major educational institutions, arts and culture venues, on the streets and in communities. Calgary is ideal for the launch as we have more engineers per capita than any other Canadian city, and rival most cities around the world for engineering heft. We will get some idea of the scope of Beakerhead when it is introduced during this year’s Stampede.
