Located in west Edmonton’s Crestwood neighbourhood, the Roozen Family Hospice Centre is a functional care facility that looks and feels like a residential home. The 12-bed community hospice will provide end-of-life care while offering support and services to family members and the greater community through specialized programs and educational opportunities.
The hospice was designed over two floors, with resident rooms on the main floor integrated with dedicated support and care service spaces. These wings are connected through a centralized great room that provides space for family and friends to gather, leading to a central outdoor courtyard. Each residential room has exterior exposure to maximize light and views, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
The second level houses dining areas with a family-style kitchen space, administrative/staff rooms and further support/counseling areas. In addition, a full basement provides space for community programs for the residents and their guests. Light is introduced to these below grade spaces through the use of large window wells that step back to maximize connection to the outdoors.
