The Roozen Family Hospice Centre, in Edmonton’s Crestwood neighbourhood, is a 12-bed residential community hospice that provides end-of-life care in a home-like environment. The facility also offers support services to family members and educational opportunities to the community.
The hospice is spread over two above grade floors, with resident rooms on the main floor situated in 6-bed wings, integrated with their own dedicated support and care service spaces. These wings are connected through a centralized great room that provides space for family and friends to gather, leading to a central outdoor courtyard. Each room has exterior exposure that maximize natural light and views to the outdoors.
The second level includes dining areas with a family-style kitchen space, administration and staff areas, and counseling areas. A full basement is located below-grade to provide space for community programs. Light is introduced to these below-grade spaces through large window wells that step back to maximize connection to the outdoors.
