Role Summary:

The senior interior designer leads interior design and / or integrated design projects, ensuring design continuity, advocacy, and leadership. They coordinate directly with team members, clients, consultants, and public authorities. The advanced senior interior designer will work on projects of various scales and collaborate with all project team members, providing support to the project lead as needed. They will work independently and project manage multiple projects and keep the project lead and supervisor updated on progress and issues as they arise.  

What you will require:

Education, Licenses & Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma from CIDA accredited post-secondary institute
  • AAA Intern Interior Designer (or in progress) is an asset
  • NCIDQ – IDFX and IDPX practicum exams (or in progress) is an asset
  • IDA/IDC Intern Member (or in progress) is an asset
  • LEED/WELL Accredited is an asset
Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of working experience within the interior design industry on integrated projects, with references and portfolio

What You Will Work On:

  • Establish and maintain project schedules, workplans, and EVA’s 
  • Prepare client fee letters, schedules, and reviews client invoicing
  • Schedule work assignments, setting priorities and delegating work accordingly
  • Confirm supporting project team members understanding of tasks including expected timeline of deliverables and how long they should take to complete to ensure workplan/fees are on track
  • Determine staffing requirements along with team leads and oversees the hiring and dismissal of staff
  • Evaluate policies and procedures and provides recommendations for changes to improve efficiency
  • Evaluate employee performances and provides feedback, coaching and disciplinary action and formal evaluations
  • Assist in establishing and implementing department initiatives
  • Lead site verifications and gathering space inventory data as needed
  • Prepare and lead programming analysis as needed
  • Prepare and lead space planning and preliminary code studies as needed
  • Lead client meetings and review meeting minutes
  • Prepare and lead development of design concepts and presentations materials as needed
  • Prepare and lead development of furniture specifications as needed
  • Coordinate consultants and vendors as needed
  • Prepare, lead and review contract documents and specifications as needed
  • Participate and lead in the review of construction administration submittals as needed
  • Participate and lead to contract administration documentation and site walkthroughs as needed
  • Oversee the project team through all phases of work 
  • Mentor and facilitate development of intermediate interior design staff
  • May be required to provide support or assist with various tasks at various skills levels as may be required for project and / or firm success

    • Graphic/visualization
    • Hand sketching
  • Autodesk Revit, an asset
  • Autodesk AutoCAD, an asset
  • Microsoft Office Suite, an asset
  • InDesign, Sketch-Up, Photoshop and other rendering software, an asset
  • Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam Studio, an asset
