S2 Architecture proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. What began as a small business has grown into a dynamic firm with offices in three cities and a team of almost 80 talented individuals. In honour of this momentous occasion, we recently gathered to reflect on our past accomplishments, pay tribute to the visionary leaders who paved the way, and set our sights on the future.
At the heart of our celebration was a deep appreciation for the exceptional team that has propelled S2 Architecture to its current standing. We extended a warm welcome to all our staff members, including those from our Vancouver office who travelled to join us in our Calgary and Edmonton studios.
We took a moment to pay homage to the founders of S2 Architecture, David Symons and Robert Spaetgens, whose entrepreneurial spirit and pursuit of excellence guided our success in the beginning. Their foresight in establishing this firm and our Calgary studio has led to countless opportunities and achievements, for which we are eternally grateful.
Since its inception, S2 Architecture has expanded its reach and influence. We opened our Edmonton office in August 2012, and after a series of relocations, we found our current home in the vibrant Brewery District in May 2020. Vancouver joined our family in November 2018, and with each passing year, we have grown stronger, forging new connections and leaving an indelible mark on the architectural landscape.
At S2 Architecture, we aim to create spaces that inspire and elevate human experiences. Over the past year, our teams have diligently worked to reaffirm this purpose, redefine our core values, and reimagine our visual brand. We remain steadfast in our dedication to embracing innovation, pushing boundaries, and cementing S2 Architecture’s position as an industry leader over the next 30 years.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to our entire team for their invaluable contributions. Each member has played a pivotal role in our success, and we take great pride in the passion that permeates every project we undertake. Special thanks are due to our branding team and all those who assisted in realigning our values and purpose, which have been instrumental to our growth.
We were honoured to have Wakefield Brewster, a renowned poet, spoken word artist, and Calgary’s 6th Poet Laureate, join us at the celebration. His masterful use of language beautifully captured the essence of our event, and we were left feeling invigorated and re-energized, ready to take on whatever the future may hold.
S2’s 30th-anniversary event served as a moment of reflection, appreciation, and inspiration. We celebrated the remarkable journey that has brought us to this point, acknowledging our current achievements while eagerly anticipating the limitless possibilities that await us.
