How do you prioritize the well-being of your team, the environment, and the community in your professional endeavours? Share a specific example of how this approach has contributed to the success of a project or initiative in your career.
Focusing on clear communication and connection with others is essential to a designer’s work. Prioritizing the well-being of the people I work with every day and the community surrounding me means asking people how they are doing and what they are working on. Similarly, on projects, communicating with clients and trying to understand what they are looking for ensures design efficiency and success.
How do you incorporate sustainability into your daily choices?
Engaging in professional development and continuing education allows me to stay informed about the latest trends in sustainability initiatives and technological innovations. This year, I will attend the “Reimagine Buildings: How to Decarb” online conference hosted by Passive House Accelerator and the ACADIA Conference, which is themed “Designing Change.” These information sessions help me remain updated on cutting-edge design trends and enhance my understanding of how to be a better steward of the environment through my work in design.
Share an instance where breaking conventions led to the emergence of innovative ideas and creative growth within your team or project.
Introducing 3d printing as a design tool, which was not previously utilized by S2, sparked creative growth within the team. The ability to create physical models through 3d printing is cost-effective and efficient, allowing for rapid iteration of design concepts. This approach improves the understanding of spatial design and allows clearer communication of ideas to both colleagues and clients.
