Smarter Together

Have you worked in a team where sharing different ideas and experiences helped make a project better?

Success depends entirely on the strength of the team. Every member brings unique experiences and perspectives, and sharing ideas has improved every project I’ve worked on at S2.

How do you contribute to a collaborative environment?

I find that planning-focused, less formal meetings are key. They give everyone a chance to contribute while getting to know each other better. Creating a friendly and non-judgmental space encourages collaboration and leads to better solutions.

Stay Grounded

How do you prioritize the well-being of your team, the environment, and the community in your professional endeavours? Share a specific example of how this approach has contributed to the success of a project or initiative in your career.

We all face stress, and while a little can be motivating, too much can be overwhelming. To help the team manage, I focus on breaking tasks into manageable steps and staying adaptable when project scopes or schedules shift. As a Project Manager, I keep an eye on scope creep and potential impacts to timelines so we can adjust or add resources when needed. This protects our clients’ interests while keeping the team from feeling overwhelmed.

Nurture Your World

How do you incorporate sustainability into your daily choices?

Sustainability is something I aim to incorporate into both my personal and professional life. I try to be mindful of energy use, reduce waste by using reusable containers, and prefer eco-friendly modes of transport like biking, walking, or public transit.

Share one small change you’ve made to live more sustainably and help maintain a balance between our actions and the natural world.

Biking to work has been my go-to for most of my career. It’s helped me cut carbon emissions while also improving my physical health. The Calgary studio organizes a ‘Bike n’ Breakfast’ every month during the summer — it’s a great way to start the day, and I encourage anyone who hasn’t joined yet to try it. I’d love to continue through the winter, though I’ve yet to find any winter riders willing to brave the cold with me!
